A beautiful cluster of stars being born from the surrounding clouds -almost 3,000 light years away.
NGC 7822 is in the constellation of Cepheus. Bottom right you can see the cluster of stars which have been born from these clouds. Some of these stars are very young- just a few million years old. Separately there is an extremely hot star, one of the hottest known at 45,000 Kelvin and 100,000 times brighter than our sun- which is energising the gases and creating the pillars of creation you can see scattered across the picture.
