About the Galaxy
The Sculptor Galaxy (also known as NGC 253 and the Silver Dollar Galaxy), is one of the brightest in the southern hemisphere and can be seen with binoculars from a dark site. It is around 90,000 light years across and over 11 million light years from earth.
It has extensive star forming regions and red giants which can be seen as the red areas especially in the outer galaxy spiralled arms.
I think this is one of the most beautiful galaxies to image!
It was taken from the Heaven's mirror observatory in New South Wales using my equipment during January 2023. I hope you love it!
